Singles Ministry
Metropolitan has made a commitment to developing a vital, effective, necessary and relevant ministry for single adults. Sometimes it feels like churches are so "couples oriented" that unmarried folks get overlooked. But, we have made a commitment to meeting the needs of this important and growing segment of the OKC metro population.
The primary goal of our singles ministry is to encourage individuals to mature in their faith and to continually be conformed to the image of Christ. We offer many ways to encourage this growth: worship, prayer, Bible studies, culturally-relevant discussion groups, personal development and fellowship (for example through TwentySomething and Soul Focus). Our identity and worth must not be found in our work, possessions, relationships or our marital status, but in Jesus Christ alone. God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.
Our next goal is to provide a community of support for individuals as they grapple with life's issues, such as trusting God, dating, friendship, marriage, contentment, loneliness, purpose, divorce, death of spouse, single parenting and the general pressures of our busy lives in a changing culture. We want to provide a healthy and safe environment for people to meet and develop friendships, but we desperately want to avoid the "meat market" approach. So, we offer many community-building ways to get connected to other people in our fellowship. Plus, we just have fun!
We invite you to consider getting plugged in at Metropolitan. Forget your preconceived notions of what a singles ministry is because we're probably different than you think. Try us. You'll like us.
Singles' Fall Retreat October 11-12
Saturday, October 11
This all day Saturday/Sunday morning retreat will be a wonderful time to get away, focus on God and enjoy the beauty of His creation. We will spend this weekend at Canyon Camp and Conference Center, located in a series of five red-rock canyons near Hinton.
Our conference speaker will be Sean Abbananto, Founder and President
of Kingdom Power Ministries (www.empoweredforlife.tv). Since 1998 Sean has been committed to equipping and empowering people to truly live life, not just go through life. He has a unique understanding of this topic, as he is a prime example of God’s redemptive process, coming from a life of pain and bad choices into the abundant life that God has promised. The cost is only $40 and includes a semi-private room, Saturday lunch and dinner, and breakfast on Sunday. (Reservations required by September 30.)
