Giving

We encourage people attending Metropolitan to give to God in response to His love, grace and provision. The Bible says we are to give joyfully, thankfully and freely rather than under compulsion as God’s Spirit directs. Giving through our church is an important part of our worship.

There are several different ways to give. Here is a brief description of each.

Ministry Fund

The Ministry Fund pays for all of the expenses of our local church and its ministries. It pays the salaries of our pastors and support team. It also pays for operating expenses such as utilities, insurance and the maintenance of our buildings, equipment and grounds. Educational materials and the expenses of ministry activities and events are also included. In fact, all of the expenses approved in our annual budget are paid from this fund. Contributions come from general offerings as well as designated gifts.

Building Fund

The Building Fund is most active during construction projects, but it also includes improving and refurbishing our existing facilities. In addition, it can help with expenses related to estimating and preparing for our future needs. Contributions are designated to the fund.

Faith Promise Missions

Contributions to Faith Promise Missions are administered by our Missions Committee. This committee stays in touch with our missionaries, making sure we are good stewards of God’s resources. When you give to Faith Promise, your gift provides support to over fifty missionaries and missionary organizations. Advantages include ongoing management and the ability to meet more needs by combining resources with others.

Designated Missions

It is also possible to give through our church to individual missionaries and missionary organizations that have been approved by our church board. There is a simple approval process for new missionaries and organizations.

Benevolence Fund

Offerings designated to the Benevolence Fund help with the financial needs of our congregation. On a limited basis we also help others in need in our community. This fund meets needs by providing basics like food and fuel for transportation. It can also assist with expenses such as utilities to provide necessary services. We don’t give money to individuals, but work directly with service providers.

You may designate your offerings to any of these funds by indicating your desires on your check, a separate note, or an offering envelope. May you experience joy and God’s blessing as you follow His direction in your planned giving.
